BON-TRON (3 MP3Z)

Photobucket

this 12 minutes long Pilotpriest track is part of the Tron Legacy soundtrack. not much happens for the first 2 or 3 minutes, then subtle vocals kick in & build up into an epic beat about 5 minutes into it. i can't remember the last time a piece of music has gotten me so excited about seeing a movie on the big screen!!! i posted the trailer in here last summer, with a few more links to cool people working on it. to the best of my knowledge, it's the only one the studio has released so far... moving on - since the weekend is upon us:

here are two more tracks from my new yet to be posted cupid mix... & i highly recommend my old college roommate frosty's mix. luv it!

Hollywood MP3Z

i love LA after the rain. the air is crisp & clear. the east side i live in is clean while venice becomes that distant place where the debris meets the sea... meeting friends for coffee under the sun soaked skies almost inspires me to order coffee with a twist of lemon!!! anyhew, marina and the diamonds can do no wrong. i love gonzales' new version of her ode to hollywood. check out the performance video!

these 2 versions made it in my new valentine playlist! i'll upload the entire mix later this week... the 15th track in this playlist posted last week is another fun upbeat version of the same song. enjoy...
Photobucket
find here mowgli's road
video & i am not a robot video...

here's another cool video:

Japayork created & animated the video himself.
music aside, i also dig his
artwork...

PARTY ON & DRIVE SAFELY!

Carla Morrison

Photobucket
it's been a while since i've been this excited about an artist i haven't seen yet! Carla Morrison is from south of the border & i can't wait till she makes it up to a stage in LA! she covers a beautiful song by the great Manu Chao whom i've always been a big fan of since high school. back then, i went to practically every Mano Negra concert in Quito... enough said! put your headphones on & pump it up:

she also writes her own songs & dedicates this one to her dad:

isn't she brilliant? ok, one more lovely song to cap it off:

SLICKNESS X 5

Photobucket
Karin Dreijer, from Swedish electro-bands Fever Ray and The Knife, sets a new acceptance speech standard at a Swedish awards show:

Karin is the shit! i was lucky to meet her brother Olof & her when The Knife came to LA for the 1st time back in 2006. i'll take Karin over lady caca anytime!!! look into Tomorrow In A Year, an excerpt of which i posted at the tail end of this entry... Swedes rule!

this new trailer for the console game Spec Ops is bad ass:
Marco Brambilla directed while Tronic designed, animated, produced and modeled the characters and environments from scratch in this ambitious portrayal of a destroyed near future Dubai...
Björk lent her talents to give it the otherworldly feel that Dubai certainly elicits. Q Department supervised, composed & designed the über slick soundtrack...
Spec Ops: The Line is a provocative and gripping third-person modern military shooter that challenges players’ morality by putting them in the middle of unspeakable situations where unimaginable choices affecting human life must be made... hmmm, that's intense! sticking to the wii once in a while might be enough for me. nevertheless, the trailer is sick!

BBC's 2010 Winter Olympics animated tailer is the slickest so far:

directed by Studio Aka's Marc Craste... i dig this inuit hero!!!

onto a whole different kinda slick! last october i had the privilege of seeing
Maluca perform in LA; pics in here... check out the hotness:

i rarely discuss politics & haven't blogged about it since this entry... however, Cornell West's recent address to Obama is pretty slick:

update (playlist+stuff)

at the Fonda here in LA, Radiohead just raised nearly $600K for Haïti!!! amazing... here's a new song they performed that night:

scroll down for info on a benefit going on monday night in LA.

some higher power has descended upon my blog & removed songs in my box account for violating copyright laws. this happened way past the hundreds of downloads so it seems you're all set... it's true that the 2000s will be remembered as the decade in which the music business died, or should i say the former excesses of those in the bizz. nevertheless, artists today have many more new ways & formats to expose their work without having to go through all the constraints of yesterday. the amount of music being produced, recorded & released today is greater than ever. as
Ghostly's Sam Valenti IV pointed out, artists (and their fans) are the ones who really move the music culture. besides, we have all become a whole lot savvier at marketing & targeting an audience while bypassing the traditional hierarchies.

anyhew, i shall abide by those higher powers who feel threatened by those of us who simply share our appreciation for music in ways that do not always conform to copyright laws. why fight it? as far as i know, my little blog has very limited exposure. so i will chose to be flattered that some other force feels threatened, and i won't repost anything that has been removed. no looking back. besides, the music will keep circulating through more channels than i'm even aware of. indeed, music & the love of music transcend all boundaries! just be sure to support your favorite artists by attending their live shows & purchasing their music whenever you can afford it! meanwhile, i have the utmost respect for everyone & anyone who works in the music field, in particular in those who run independent record labels!!! i'll be happy to remove anything from my post if you feel it doesn't support your cause, agenda or mission to make our lives richer & better.

finally, here's the entire playlist i threw together back in Miami, a grand total of 101 MP3Z. this shared folder will survive the wrath of the powers at be... for now... just for today! here we go:

Photobucket

not previously uploaded are Dazz Band to Gill Scott-Heron, KillaQueens to Kings Of Convenience, Nite Funk to Phoenix, Sinead O'Connor to Calvin Harris, Pantha du Prince to Peaches,...

here's the new video to "Me And The Devil" (track #40):

in case you missed it, the mediafire downloads still contain it all:

last friday at the Hyperion Tavern i caught up with friends to the tune of Jimmy Tamborello at the decks. he's one of my faves! you might know him better under one of his monikers: Dntel, The Postal Service or James Figurine. here's a really cool selection of his. i love Dublab! i recently included one of his music videos in this entry...

monday night, come to Mustache Mondays @ La Cita for some guilt free fun; your dollars will go towards the edeyo & yéle relief efforts:

Telephone MP3+VID

Photobucket

this might very well be the gayest thing i've ever done!!! here we go, for the first time ever in my whole entire blogging life, i'm posting a Lady Gaga song. i don't like her. it's like with some people, for whatever reason, you take one look at them & you just wanna slap them. that's how i feel about her... now, to her credit, she does have a decent voice & she writes her own songs. her ridiculous outfits are more often misses than hits, but at least they usually cover her face, thank gawwwd! anyhew, i'm gonna get bad karma if i keep writing about her, so i'm just gonna say props to this "lady" for writing her own songs, covering her face & featuring Beyonce in this new song:

Lady Gaga featuring Beyonce - Telephone (MP3)
Crookers Vocal Remix

next to Beyonce's hotness, she really should have kept her face covered!!!

MLK (20 MP3Z)

in 1962 Jimmy "Bro" Hayes invited the 30 or 40 guys he
had been singing with at a basketball court to his house
to get together a little group. four guys showed up, and
they went on to form pioneering a cappella legends
The Persuasions.
"I Have a Dream" is a Solomon Burke song
based on the words of
Martin Luther King:

i'm stoked about
Róisín Murphy's new album coming out!
i've been a fan ever since she hit the airwaves with Moloko's
"Sing It Back" (track #2 in the
Nineties Perfect playlist).

i posted
here other new songs of hers.

i love how Sinden adds some throbbing funk
to Miike Snow's "Silvia"

Borgore's dubstep kicks ass. it's rude but not as
dirty as Phreaky Muthafucker posted
here.

on my last night out in Miami, i had a blast at Chocolate Sunday,
well once a more "mature" deejay took over the decks. prior to that,
this hot girl was spinning some good tunes until she decided to
play what she thought was cool about 90's acid house & techno.
obviously the irony of it all was lost on her & i had to step away
from the dancefloor. her selection was hiddeous! anyhew,
John Tejada's "Sweat" is from 2004 i think, but if i'm gonna
indulge in a little acid, i'd throw this one in the mix. so i did!

also from 2004, i threw in some glitchy beats by EdIT
whom i started partying with back when we were at USC
and he was just learning to play drum'n bass
records, which was painful at times. Ed has
certainly become a pro since then!

sandwiched between 2 epic disco tracks by Rockets,
Claudine Longet softens things up in
Miami's first language!

ENJOY & SHARE THE WEALTH!
