GIVE IT 110%

this is the season i'm a little obsessed with Jessie Ware's skittery art-step beats and pitchshifted vocal samples; somehow, Ware effortlessly manages to bring these often-esoteric genre samples into fun pop territory in a way i find refreshing... that middle interlude where the beat drops out and Ware’s layered voice takes center stage over a simple bass backbeat is absolutley stunning...

Where Have You Been?

i never thought Rihanna would make it on my blog...  but she is ridiculously HOTTER than anyone else no matter what.  it's a fact!  her NEW VIDEO by the one & only DAVE MEYERS is AMAZING!  i certainly know how much has gone into getting this video made, and i couldn't be more proud of the team. while Riri is back in Hawaii to relax from whatever it is she needs a break from, i'm wishing everyone in LA a speedy recovery... enjoy & share the wealth:

Nap On The Bow

You're looking peaceful lying there, asleep on the bow... We're getting closer now, to the shore... Lift your hand I can see it now, it's coming fast...  We can only hope it will last...

HOUDINI music video

the DANIELS do it again... such a fun idea:

Obama Slow Jams

last night on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, the world's coolest president appeared to slow jam the news, in particular the impeding doubling of student loans interest rate...
during the jam, Barack Obama's nicknames include: The Preezy of the United Steezy, The Barackness Monster and POTUS with the Mostest!!!
past Late Night slow jams have typically featured NBC news anchor Brian Williams, but hopefully everyone's favourite POTUS returns for more in the future.

Cochon Ville

i'm loving Alex Courtès's video for Sébastien Tellier's latest:

...if you liked it, check out this older video for Sébastien Tellier!

as fun as it is to watch this Courtès video (really takes me back), i have to say that Canada's 2010 one for El Guincho touches on the same themes, but in a more innocent, nuanced & interesting manner. Courtès is a sensationalist; Canada is a collective or true artists. their work has an integrity & finesse that seem to be missing in Courtès show-off approach to filmmaking. don't get me wrong, i very much enjoy the "show off" but at the end of the day, Canada's work has more substance. watch it again HERE!
