La Decima Vittima is one of the coolest movies ever made. it's as if the filmmakers had gone into the future & come back to 1965 to make a clever mockery of today's reality tv shows, while staying true to their über cool sense of style & fashion. i've seen it over & over & never get tired of it! here's a killer excerpt:
i've taken this opportunity to sprinkle the playlistwith music of
the amazing film by composer Piero Piccioni.
Ursula Andress & Marcello Mastroianni are flawless:
alright, back to the music!
aside from another remix of The xx's Basic Space (check previous playlists on my blog for the original & other remixes), more from Little Dragon, Health (my favorite LA band of the moment), The Willowz, The Fiery Furnaces, The Lowbrows (i love their "Danse Macabre" at #24!)... i'm also really digging Freelance Whales (see track #28) for their dreamy Broken Social Scene vibes, as well as Holiday Shores (#29) for their beach reverb... as for the classics, i threw in Léo Ferré, France Gall & my favourite, LA LUPE also known as La Yiyiyi Queen Of Latin Soul!
this is basically my usual random mix of old & new:

here's the fun new video for Health's "Die Slow" (track #17):
i previously posted a cool remix of the song in Summer Stroll,
and here's a cool article about Health...
I love to see how many bands manage to make no-budget videos & still project some (usually scrappy) aspect of their personality. but it's things like the new clip for Dimmer's "Cold Water" (track #29 in this playlist), directed by Dylan Pharazyn & with 3D animation by this Kiwi band's drummer, Gary Sullivan, that remind us just how much can be done with the medium:
i'm really digging Pogo. this guy splices images/sounds/music of movies & blends in some of his own compostions when he puts it all back together. check it out:
(this one is track #12 in the playlist)
spending more time on the beach, i'm in an Alpha Blondy mood & included 2 of his songs. African reggae rocks my world. Alpha Blondy & the likes kept it fresh, especially when coming down from a big night out, waiting for the sunrise on the beach... it still puts me in such a great mood. over the weekend in the bu, i swam among the fish & the pelicans diving in all around. here are some photos:

back in the big city, i grew some wings on the dancefloor:
