as usual it's a wide range of everything i like, old & new... i love Tiny Yong so i brought her back in the mix. there's a cool remix of my favourite song by The Antlers... a Serge Gainsbourg classic and a cover of the same song by 80s belgian synth pop singer Jo Lemaire... a sweet Hot Chip cover by Grizzly Bear... more from The Muppets... i also brought back La Lupe whom i'll never get enough of... another chica i recently fell in love with is Carla Morrison... this one is heavy on rythm & blues, soul, funk & rock courtesy of Betty Davis, Denise LaSalle, Elvis, Harold Melvin, Janis Joplin, Stevie, Millie Jackson, Ray Charles & Rose Royce with a great song Madonna later covered (also included in here)... i threw in my favourite Tom Waits song about a fish & a bird... some Björk, PJ Harvey & Thom Yorke was de rigueur... and then Cold Cave, the sweetest synth pop, post punk, new wave & atmospheric band of our millenium so far; they will be at the echoplex on the 18th of february (check sundaze for more info)... i hope you enjoy this mix as much as i do... it's not a super lovey dovey one but it all boils down to love in the end... love does come close!
wrapping it up with the few mobile phone pics i took recently, mostly on saturday with 2 girlfriends i've known forever. we went to film school together. we're family... one of them was back from new zealand; she basically married the hobbit for another 2 years or so! the other was back from san francisco; a good place to land after traveling all over the globe... was so nice of them to meet me at full frontal disco to catch up on the dancefloor & over late night chinese...
