sky is the limit & you know that you keep on, just keep on pressing on...
sky is the limit & you know that you can have what you want...
BE WHO YOU WANT!

i've said it before & i'll say it again. whenever you're at a loss, play some good house music & while you're dancing the night away, a super simple repetitive chorus will pop out of nowhere & make it all better! fo sho!!!

also at Rhona-Vous, my compatriots from Brussels - Aeroplane - will add some gospel to the danceflloor with messages such as this one:

♡ Aeroplane ☀ WE CAN'T FLY MP3 ♡

ummm, what???! sure we can... in our city of angels, anything can happen!!! click on the following pic of the Belgian duo for their latest mix... it might not propel you to the sky, but it's a definite dancefloor boner inducer:

♡ SEU JORGE ☀ EVERYBODY LOVES THE SUNSHINE MP3 ♡

this new Seu Jorge cover of the legendary Roy Ayers' classic should be available next month on Now-Again. till then, this excerpt will suffice...

the above picture is of the luminous Gabriela Artigas wearing her own creations. the Artigas ladies & friends hosted the chill opening of a one month pop up collaboration - The Handmade - between their sumptuous House on Genesee & the Esquivel house, featuring the store's sumptuous shoes & other handcrafted goods - Gabriela's line of clothes & jewelry, Gentryman's accessories for men, tasty salsa & mole concocted & bottled by Gabriela's super stylistic mum, etc etc... check links for more details. if you're an Eastsider to the core & would rather not venture west of Vermont Avenue, Echo Park's cozy Mohawk General Store features Gabriela's gems. you'll also find more of my snapshots of the house in here & here... here's the rest of my daytime lo-fi mobile pics from the afternoon & beyond:

Baby In The $ky, Denim Diaper$ & other ad$

here’s a gorgeous new public service announcement directed by Jack-Antoine Charlot. BABY IN THE SKY is a psychedelic and fantastic film commissioned for the Global Fund to raise awareness of HIV infection in mothers and children. the narrative is fairly abstract, but the visuals are lush and quite engaging. the joyous and energetic 2D animation style really sets this apart from the typical dry, statistical and scary PSAs:

TOTALLY RANDOM... FOR REAL... I NEED'EM IN MY SIZE:

here's another groovy spot but within a film - Putney Swope:

this new Nike ad by Alejandro González Iñarritu is amaaazing:

LET'S FOOL AROUND ♡ 3MP3Z

...watch it boy i wanna be your toy!

♡ showgirls ☀ FOOLIN' AROUND MP3 ☀ hypnolove ♡

...will soon post more lo-fi pics from the weekend!

for an even wilder spiritual experience, check out this irrefutable evidence that Christianity is a massive pile of... witness a bunch of bat-shit crazy worshipers singin' the Hokey Pokey to summon the healing powers of Jesus Christ. no fucking joke, shaking it all about to unleash miracles:

historically, the "hokey pokey" dance was performed by the crazy Shaker religion to mock the equally crazy Catholic religion and in particular the magical nonsense of the Eucharist (final meal of Jesus before the crucifixion) as well as the "sit-stand-kneel" routine of Mass...

continuing the history comes modern day crazy Christians who have taken the "magical nonsense" of the hokey pokey (hocus pocus) one step further by concluding that performing the dance will bring "miracles" to those who believe. make sure you watch the holy ghost hokey pokey miracles on the 3:00 min. mark & catch that mental bint at the 7:20 min. mark - nail bombing never looked so appealing!!!

ok so lets bring it back to what's important. over the weekend, i saw Thumbsucker for the nth time. Keanu Reeves is the best part of the whole film, for real. here's my favourite scene at the end:

♡♡♡ SEIJI ft. Lyric L ☀ LOOSE LIPS MP3 ♡♡♡

if loose lips sink ships, my ill scripts rips and flips like gymnastics and that's it... tell me, can you feel the vibe? WOOO!

i usually post my party mixes only. this one has helped me through staying in & watching movies to prevent "feeling fluish" to getting the actual flu. besides, it kinda goes with LA's June gloom in May thing we have going on right now... this playlist opens with a rip from Almodóvar's Talk To Her, which i saw again as i was battling the flu. i don't know if it's because i've been clean & sober long enough now to actually have feelings or if it was my immune system fighting the flu making me all hormonal & shit, but my eyes welled up more than once. ok, i actually cried! urgh, feelings are kinda trippy!!! this version of Caetano Veloso's Cucurrucucu Paloma is a little sadder than other recordings but more mesmerizing. i boosted it up in the right places so it sounds great blasting in my head phones... Richard Hawley's The Streets Are Ours was pulled from another amazing movie - Exit Through The Gift Shop. if you haven't seen this BANKSY film you're totally missing out! it's out now... go go go:

i still managed to drag my ass out for a few shows, and for the following life savors: pho, tortilla soup, ceviche, trying out a breathing circle in some native american tradition, and hikes with the happiest dog on the planet, cicciolina mia... here are more super lo-fi pics from my mobile:
