i coasted through Beverly Hills to check out Paola Pivi's sculpture of black & white pearls hanging at the Chanel store. since i was in the neighborhood, swinging by Margiela's Maison was de rigueur; it's my favourite Belgian home in all of LA! i want every single piece they have!!! down the street, i discovered that getting drunk on sparkling water alone was possible when i got my hands on Missoni's bottle of San Pellegrino... and if i had $87K to drop on a ring, Victoire de Castellane for Dior is where it's at, trust!
on sunday, Rashida & Friends hosted an impeccable after party for the American Music Awards snooze fest. such intimate gatherings always draw a stylistic crowd, with the likes of Grey Ant's leading lady (in a flawless Margiela red top & skirt), designers Brian Lichtenberg & Franc Fernandez, musical guest Sam Sparro, and a discerning tribe of devotees...
earlier the same evening, The Masses had a potluck where i bumped into Frenchie Jean-Marc Barr , whose mesmerizing part in Jean-Luc Besson's Big Blue still haunts me when i think about it... here he is with a few other darlings: Mia Doi Todd and Douglas Smith, Matt Amato & Cathy Cooper...
last night, i saw The Naked & Famous. their layering of live sounds & musical arrangements was impressively complicated for pop music. it was somewhat reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine, Blonde Redhead & Sonic Youth, with a touch of The xx. all of this packaged in such a cute & unassuming manner - good stuff...
