Holy Fuck & Super Furry Animals tonight at the Echoplex... i was going to post a short playlist with only their songs & instead came up with this "folky/poppy/rocky" one with 24 songs i enjoy:

several months after i included Feist's "1234" (the song & video) in one of my playlists & post, it ended up on an iPod commercial. months after posting some Yaël Naïm songs, "New Soul" ended up as the soundtrack of the spot introducing the MacBook Air... so i predict the next song Apple is going to use for a spot is Lykke Li's "Dance Dance Dance" (#7)... for something iPod or iTunes related. i've posted other songs of hers last year but this one has more potential for becoming a driving commercial soundtrack. whatever, it's a beautiful song... "DANCE DANCE DANCE, NO WORDS CAN EVER MAKE UP FOR WHAT YOU DO." troo dat!

enjoy these tunes & share the wealth!!! i'm too lazy to comment on all tracks. they're all great, fun & catchy. i'll just say Bishop Allen is underrated. i open & close this playlist with their pop songs... Devendra Banhart is amazing; Seahorse" & "Lover" are splendid, but i threw in an older folk song of his in this playlist. just see him perform if you ever get a chance... Deerhoof's "Plus 81" was one of my favorite rock songs of 2007... and i couldn't resist throwing into the mix some Swedish italodisco with Sally Shapiro at #23. Trevin introduced her to me a while back. love it or hate it... ok, whoever i don't mention, just look them up on myspace if you must...

after the show tonight, head over to the Verdugo for drinks, good music & a chill crowd. an old college friend, Davon Slothangeles from MixtapeMixtape, will be setting the tone. besides, the Verdugo has a solid selection of Belgian beers on tap, if you're into that...
