Studio Valentino 54 (playlist)

Missy Elliot is THE king of music videos. i love the this track!

ok, with Valentine's Day or "la Saint Valentin" coming up, i made a new playlist with 54 tunes... an hommage to Studio 54 in the name of good beats & lavish hedonism. i squeezed in "valentino" in the title, as a double nod to present happenings... one nod at February 14th, a day celebrating romantic lovers, sexual partners & their icon: Cupid. the other one at my favorite of the "classic" designers, Valentino who recently showed his last collection in gay Paris...

STUDIO VALENTINO 54 - MP3 downloads

this is the easiest way i know how to share my tunes with you effortlessly (at least on my end), and i highly recommend you saving them in their order with their iTunes settings for a better experience... the party starts with track #3, an amazing cover of David Bowie's "Lets Dance" by Macedonian band Foltin, followed by Billy Ocean's "Caribbean Queen." there's something about Billy Ocean that inspires even the baddest bitch in the room to close her eyes, roll with it oh so smoothly & brighten up the dancefloor, like this:
PhotobucketAdele's cover of The Strokes' "Last Night" is all about her phenomenal voice at #6, followed by Belgians Das Pop, clearly masters of pop rock with "Fool For Love." i had to throw in "Party & Bullshit" at #10 cuz it's my favorite Biggie song & this remix by Brooklyn's Ratatat is dope. it was Sara's birthday recently so this one's for her. Sara loves Biggie more than any other friend i have... last Saturday we celebrated her birthday along with Davon & Fernando's birthdays at their pad on Echo Park Blvd. the age --or rather week-end-- of aquarius... here's Sara at her bday party, with Peymon & Nicole:

this sexy chick was staring at me so i pulled out my camera & took her pic while she kept looking at me, smoking her cigarette, as if nothing. we never introduced ourselves & i don't know who she is.
just another casual encounter of the night:

Saul set his drink free but even as the cup got lighter, the balloons hit the ceiling & kept his cocktail at arm's reach:

i'm not so sure about these acid wash skinny jeans, but i'm down with the espadrilles so i'll let it slide & be nice about it (but what the fuck is with the crotch area, i mean if you're gonna flaunt it, have a massive dirk diggler one then, right?!):

ok, back to Studio Valentino 54... my favorite discoveries of the past few months are Melbourne's
The Emergency with "Prisoner of Love" at #21 & London's Primary 1 with "Hold Me Down" at #25 (i can't stop listening to these 2 songs). I love "Sweaty" by Muscles (also from Melbourne) so much i have 2 different versions of it at #31 & 32. I'm a big fan of Remi Nicole's "Fed Up" remixed by Kissy Sell Out at # 51. Yelle's "Ce Jeu" (meaning "This Game" in French, in the context of passion, love & attraction... duh!) is pretty and followed by Holy Fuck's "Lovely Allen" at #47. by the way, don't miss Holy Fuck & Super Furry Animals this coming Friday at The Echoplex. this show is going to be sick! C U THERE!!!

special mention to
Mondkopf for their phenomenal "Ave Maria" (listen to it on their page). at #19, Mondkopf's transformation of Grand National's "By the Time" is equally powerful & ethereal...
